Week 9 Thursday Night Recap!

Image googled from:thebrowntweedsociety.com

Since Thursday night games are on the NFL network, they rarely involve big or exciting match-ups. That also means that there are usually few to zero of my fantasy players involved. Last night stayed true to that, but it also set up a very disappointing beginning to week 9.

Junktown Marauders:
I started Andy Dalton at QB over Andrew Luck. It didn't seem like that big of a decision either. Dalton has been on fire of late and he scored 31 points in his last game. He was projected for 17 points. Luck has been good lately, but he is going up against a tougher (on paper) Texans defense. He is projected for 14 points. The Dolphins have a pretty good defense, but last night they had a great defense. They intercepted Dalton 3 times and forced him to fumble once. Dalton had a lot of yardage (338), but 4 turnovers and 0 touchdowns equals 6 fantasy points. 6 fantasy points isn't good for any player, but it is horrendous for a QB. The Marauders went from 124 projected points to 116, so I would be lucky if I walk away with low 100s.

Ul'dah Immortal Flames:
A.J. Green did not have a touchdown, but he did get 128 yards on the night for a total of 12 fantasy points. He was projected for 15, so all in all he did as expected. I'm fine with this.

Besaid Aurochs:
One bullet dodged, while indecision hurts like a knife.
I chose to start Tony Romo over Andy Dalton (see awful performance with the Marauders), so that is a bullet dodged. Assuming Romo can do better than 6 points, and you know what assuming does...

Meanwhile my indecision between playing Pierre Garcon or Giovani Bernard is not looking good so far. Bernard was projected to get only 5 points, but Matthew Berry (fantasy football guru/savant) was all for starting him. I should have listened... Bernard ran for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns, which is good for 21 points. Meanwhile, Garcon is only projected to get 13 points, which probably will translate to 3. Garcon is already on my bad side and even if he somehow lives up to his projection of 13 points, it still won't be good enough to win back my love.
